Personalization Information Page

Below are guidelines and item specifics information for your personalization. If you have personalization needs that are not shown here, please feel free to ask us. We make every effort to personalize to your specifications.

Graphics:

Photos should be high quality images with good contrast. If scanning, please scan photo at 250dpi or higher (this might require using the ADVANCED features of your scanning software. If using a digital camera, use the highest quality setting and use at least a 2 megapixel camera. The quality of your engraving will depend on the quality of the photo. Scanned photos should be at least 5" x 7" for best results. Enlarging photos to fit the product size can result in a lower quality photo. We will do our best to work with your photo and will provide you a "simulation" image prior to personalizing for your approval if we feel the image is sub-standard. If you think the image is not suitable, you may replace it with another.

Images must be 250 dpi to engrave. Images with a higher dpi will simply be reduced, no problem. However, images with a lower dpi (most images from digital cameras are 72 dpi) will be converted to 250 dpi using the following rule/example:

To increase the dpi of an image, we must reduce the size of the image proportionately. Example: An image that is 2" x 2" square at 125 dpi becomes 1" x 1" square at 250 dpi. Please take this into consideration when sending images to be sure they are of suitable size to engrave on the product you selected. A 4" x 6" image at 72 dpi becomes a 1.5" x 2" image at 250 dpi, which is MUCH too small for a 5" x 7" product!

We have hundreds of clipart images to help you if you don't have your own graphics to email. Just tell us what type of image you want and we will send you some samples to choose from. The best images for engraving are those that are mostly black and white, with little to no grayscale (or colored images that are pure color without gradient as these will convert to black and white with minimal to no greyscale).

Some items, such as wood, marble and granite will do greyscale very nicely and are highly suitable for any image, including real life photos. Other substances, such as anodized aluminum, do not engrave greyscale as well.

If you have any questions or concerns about your image, feel free to email it to us at sales@impressionslast.com telling us what product you are considering and we will let you know the suitability of the image for the product.

Orientation:

Many products such as photo frames, marble and granite plaques can be done in landscape or portrait orientation. Please be sure to specify which orientation you need on products that support orientation choices.

Sizes

Some products are available in multiple sizes. Product pricing is based on smallest size. Each size in the dropdown box explains how much is added to the base cost for that size.

"Will You Be Emailing Us Your Images Or Text?":

If you need more room for your engraving instructions, or have more than one image and want to email your instructions to us, simply type EMAIL in the engraved text area and email us at sales@impressionslast.com.

Engraved Text

Optional text can be engraved along with or without a photo. Text can be below, above or beside your photo. There is no limit to the amount of text you can have engraved, however, the more text there is, the smaller either the text, photo or both will be. Use the "Engraved Text" lines on the product detail page to enter the text exactly how you want it engraved. Please note that we copy/past the text so please check your spelling and punctuation as we do not. Alternately, if you need more space, you can email your instructions, or tell us in lay terms what to engrave and where using the "Layout and Special Instructions" Box. (When emailing additional text or instructions, please check the box indicating you are emailing additional images or text and email us at sales@impressionslast.com immediately after checkout).

Font Choices:

While we will use any font that we either have or can obtain, here are some common font choices for you to choose from for your engraving. PLEASE NOTE that not all fonts are suitable for all types of products. For example, fonts with intricate designs such as #35 Gold Rush or #44 ShowBoat would NOT be suitable for small sized engravings such as on pens. These fonts are better suited in large font sizes bigger than 24pt. Selecting a plain font for small engravings will yield a much more satisfactory result than a fancy font that may not be legible when done small. Script fonts should NOT BE USED for ALL CAPS!! Extremely thin and fancy scripts like #17 CAC Champagne should not be used on small items.
